Class Afloat – West Island College International offers internationally acclaimed High School, University and Gap Year programs to students from around the world. Class Afloat students earn academic credits while sailing aboard the historic 65m (200') tall ship Alexander von Humboldt II and exploring over 20+ ports of call worldwide. Class Afloat sets high standards for learning, community service, leadership and personal development.
Over the last 30 years, more than 2,000 Class Afloat students have had the experience of a lifetime, developing as individuals, excelling as global citizens, forging lifelong friendships and exploring the world.
Built in 2011, the ALEXANDER von HUMBOLDT II (ALEX-2) offers students a classic ‘Barque’ sailing ship experience with modern amenities and safety systems. In 1906, the original ALEXANDER von HUMBOLDT I was built and named after the famous explorer, Alexander von Humboldt.
