LEARN TO SAIL

Tall Ships Adventure is one of Canada’s top non-profit sail training organizations.  We offer youth ages 12-18 the opportunity to sail aboard tall ships Fair Jeanne and Black Jack.  Stepping aboard as trainees, youth learn to operate the ships alongside the crew, truly becoming crew themselves. Youth take the helm, learn to chart a course, haul lines, climb aloft to furl sails, and complete activities around the galley and ship maintenance.  They increase self-confidence and resilience while having the time of their lives!  Working as a team they learn to overcome real-life challenges.

ABOUT THE SHIPs

Fair Jeanne and Black Jack are the core of our fleet. Both are brigantines – this means that they have two masts, one with square sails (in front) and one with fore-and-aft sails (in back). They’re built in the style of traditional 18th-century tall ships, but they are modern in every way.
