Growing up before the mast of the tall ship Black Jack, Simon Fuller dreamed of adventure under sail. He believed that young people, with the right support, determination, practice and resolve could achieve the loftiest of goals and highest of responsibility, well beyond their age. He became the youngest Captain, sailing with a youth crew, at the Quebec City tall ships regatta in 1984.
His father, the late Captain Thomas. G. Fuller DSC**, “Pirate of the Adriatic” designed and built the Fair Jeanne in his backyard, naming the vessel after his beautiful wife. It is by their example that tall ship sailing with Bytown Brigantine builds confidence and self-esteem, inspires leadership and good citizenship while fostering life-long friendships between youth.
Reach new heights on a tall ship adventure aboard the Fair Jeanne or Black Jack. Living and working with new friends, you will have the opportunity to steer the ship, set sails, assist in the galley and yes, be responsible for cleaning up too. You sail, swim, have shore excursions, share a few laughs and learn how to overcome both personal and team challenges.
Operating in the beautiful 1000 Islands or on the Ottawa River, this adventure camp welcomes youth 12-14 years old to 5 or 10-days of adventure: sailing, swimming, exploring the islands and inspiring moments between new friends. Select camps have special offerings.
The 110′ Fair Jeanne welcomes youth 14-18 years old to sail alongside crew on St Lawrence, the Great Lakes and sometimes the Atlantic. Voyages can be up to 14-days with both water and shore-based adventure built into the program.
